GATESVILLE – The Gates County Board of Education has approved several administrative personnel changes just two weeks into the new school year.

The board, in a special called meeting on Friday of last week, unanimously approved the following changes:

Gatesville Elementary School: Kristal Brooks, former Assistant Principal at Gates County High School, replaces Joyeria Brothers as the principal.

Central Middle School: Assistant Principal Rosalind Rosa replaces Kelly Eure as principal. Rosa’s former job of Assistant Principal will be filled by Krystle Williams.

Gates County High School: Eure replaces Brooks as Assistant Principal.

Buckland Elementary School: Brothers moves into the EC teaching position formerly filled by Williams.

No information was provided as to the reasons for these changes.

The school board approved the changes by a 4-0 vote. Board members attending the Sept. 6 meeting were Rev. Ronnie Riddick, Sallie Ryan, Leslie Byrum and Ray Felton.

Gates County Schools Superintendent Dr. Barry Williams confirmed that board member Amanda J. Heimbecker has resigned prior to the end of her term in November. Heimbecker was defeated by Terri R. Riddick in her reelection bid during the March 5 Primary.

Heimbecker’s seat has to be filled by appointment to serve out the remainder of her term. The county’s Board of Education will go through this process at their next scheduled meeting on Sept. 16.
