Gates County is blessed to have many men and women who are the first to rush to the aid of those in need.

For that reason, Gates County Farm Bureau has launched its First Responder of the Month program. The program will recognize a first responder every month and Gates County Farm Bureau will give them a $25 gift card.

The First Responder of the Month for August is Christopher Ashley of Gates County Rescue & EMS.

Chris works full time as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, serving the citizens of Gates County on the “A” shift.

He grew up in Gates County, residing with his family in Sunbury, and graduated from Gates County High School.

In his free time, Chris enjoys visiting amusement parks, traveling, classic country music, but most of all spending time with friends and family and playing with his cat.

Chris says his favorite time of the year is Christmas where he enjoys decorating, watching Christmas movies, and giving gifts to others.

He is quite the Disney buff and loves Mountain Dew and chocolate candy.

Chris gives freely of his time to help others, making himself a valuable asset to Gates County.
