GATESVILLE, NC – Dale Davis McDuffie, 78, of 611 Court Street, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

Mrs. McDuffie was born in the village of Columbia in Tyrrell County on September 1, 1945 and was the daughter of the late H. Edward and Christeen Chaplin Davis. A graduate of East Carolina University, she had retired as a teacher after a career serving the students of Edgecombe, Hyde, Tyrrell, and Gates counties where she taught Social Studies and Language Arts to grades 5-7. Raised in the faith of Wesley United Methodist Church, since moving to Gatesville 50 years ago she had attended Gatesville Baptist Church.

Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Ed McDuffie; two sons, Eddie McDuffie (wife, Stephanie, and their daughter, Mckayla) of Fairview, and Scott McDuffie of Dartmouth, Massachusetts; two sisters, Faye Crumpler Aranda of Columbia, and Ann Smith of Southern Shores; and a brother, Lee Davis of Apex.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Town of Gatesville Cemetery and will be conducted by the Rev. Russell Watts and longtime family friend, Doug Lilley. Friends may visit with the family in the social hall of Gatesville Baptist Church immediately following the graveside service.
