Search yields two-plus pounds of illegal drugs

HOBBSVILLE – What started as a simple traffic stop turned into much more near here last week.
Gates County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of NC Highway 32, Hobbsville, on Sept. 6 in reference to a reported careless and reckless driver.
Upon arriving in the area, deputies located the suspected vehicle and identified Noah Sizemore as the driver.
Probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle was obtained and deputies seized approximately one kilo (over two pounds) of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and other illegal contraband.
Subsequently, Sizemore was taken into custody and charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver a Controlled Substance, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle to Sell/Deliver a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Gates County Sheriff Ray Campbell said the incident is still under investigation and further charges may be pending.
