GCHS Hoco!
On Saturday (Oct. 12), the GCHS SGA sponsored our semi-annual Homecoming Dance. There were colorful lights and different decorations to look at relating to the “A Night in Nashville” theme. There was a photo booth, and it was a HIT. We hope you came and had a BLAST!
At the dance, our Homecoming 2024 Queen Ni’Jahe Saunders (escorted by Chief Howard) crowned our Homecoming 2024 King Justin Powell! They are both very thankful for their peers and those who voted for them.
Thank you to our GCHS students and staff that are a part of our SGA Committee for sponsoring and putting on our dance. We are so grateful to have such hardworking and committed students! Go Barons!

GCHS Spirit Week!
The GCHS Spirit Committee sponsored one of my favorite things we do each year- Spirit Week! Spirit Week is a week full of fun activities and different theme days to get GCHS motivated for our yearly Homecoming Game.
This year we had “Anything but a Bookbag” day, “Twin/Iconic Duo” day, “On Wednesdays we Wear Pink…for Breast Cancer Awareness!” day, “Grill Dads vs. Sporty Moms” day (I think I speak for a majority of our GCHS Student Body when I say it was one of our favorite days!), and “Red Out” day!
We also had a GCHS Spirit Scavenger Hunt, Car Decorating Contest, Homeroom Door Decorating contest, and our yearly Spirit Stick Contest! This year, our Juniors won the Spirit Stick and bragging rights for having the most school spirit!
Friday night, we won our Homecoming Football game against Bertie County and ended the week with an amazing “Night in Nashville” Homecoming Dance!
Thank you to all who participated in the week, and a very BIG thank you to our GCHS Spirit Committee and all other staff and students that made it possible to have such an enjoyable week! Go Barons!

Pre-ACT
All sophomores will take the Pre-ACT 10/22 for a chance to get into COA classes and for the students to get an early measure of college so that they can be prepared for the big thing.
The Pre-ACT assessments are multiple choice and provide sophomores an early measure of college and career readiness while serving as a practice opportunity for the ACT test! Go Barons!
