GREENSBORO, NC – Marian Benton Briggs, 91, of Graham Road, died Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in her home where she was cared for by her daughter.

Mrs. Briggs was born in Gates County on September 30, 1932, one of four daughters born to the late Clyde H. and Olive Beamon Benton. In addition to her parents, a daughter, Sharon Briggs, and her sisters, Mary Lou Riddick, Elizabeth Daniels, and Phyllis Mathias, preceded her in death.

A longtime employee of Computer Business Forms, a division of J.P. Stevens, she worked in many capacities with the company, as a secretary and administrative assistant, before retiring and going to work with Dial Page Communications.

A lifelong Methodist, she was raised in the fellowship of Parker’s United Methodist Church in Corapeake, and since moving to Greensboro many years ago was a member of Muir’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving is her daughter, Teresa Briggs West (husband, Harvey) of Rolesville; two grandchildren, Lelia Kate Kidd (husband, Carey) of Wake Forest and Benjamin West of Fort Myers, FL; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Rylee, Ellia, and Isla. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and extended members of both the Beamon and Benton families.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker’s United Methodist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by the church pastor, The Rev. Johnnie Swann. Friends may visit with the family in the church immediately following the service.
