Meet-and-Greet
GATESVILLE – The Gates County Democratic Party will host a meet and greet from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Merchants Millpond State Park Visitors Center.
All local Democratic candidates seeking election and re-Election are invited: Commissioners incumbents Linda Hofler (Hobbsville), Althea Riddick (Corapeake/Sunbury); and Register of Deeds Mary Cathy Horton.
Other state and federal candidates have been invited.
All local candidates will run during the November 2024 Election cycle.
Fundraiser
GATES – Reynoldson Baptist Church (73 Reynoldson Road, Gates) is hosting a Chicken and Dumpling fundraiser. Each quart is $10 and will be available for pickup from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 at the church fellowship hall.
Orders must be placed by Jan. 22 by calling 252-273-0111 or by email at pastorcb@outlook.com. All proceeds will go to the Reynoldson Baptist Church Building Fund.
Sausage/Pancake Dinner
EURE – Hall Ruritan Club will host a sausage and pancake dinner (eat-in or take-out) from 4:30-7 p.m. on Feb. 3. Proceeds will benefit the Eure Volunteer Fire Department. Plates are available for a $10 donation.
Meet-and-Greet
GATESVILLE – Gates County Farm Bureau is sponsoring a Meet-and-Greet for local candidates (those who have filed for the board of commissioners and the school board) at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8 at the Merchants Millpond State Park Visitors Center. A continental breakfast will be served.

NAACP meeting
GATESVILLE – Gates County NAACP Branch 5396 will meet at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Gates County Community Center.
The organization is seeking new members and asking old members to renew. Membership is $30 a year. You may mail check or money order to (PO Box 263 Gatesville NC 27938.)
