GATESVILLE, NC – Rebecca Dail Eure, 92, of 279 NC 137, Gatesville, died Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at her daughter’s home in North Topsail Beach.

Mrs. Eure was born in Virginia on August 7, 1930, and was one of eight children born to the late Landorf and Rachel Flynn Dail. In addition to her parents and six of her siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 71 years, Luther Haywood Eure, Sr.

Retired from a career in banking, she had worked at the Bank of Gates and later, after it had changed ownership to First Citizens Bank. A faithful member of Eure Christian Church since she was nine years old, it was there that she met her future husband, and began a lifelong courtship that ended just two and a half years ago at his death. They were active in their community and enjoyed membership together in the Gatesville Chapter of The Order of The Eastern Star where she had served as Worthy Matron.

Surviving are her children, two daughters, Lydia Eure Barker (husband, Gerry Riddick) of North Topsail Beach and Melinda Dale Eure of Nashville, TN; a son, Luther H. “Luke” Eure, Jr. (wife, Jeanette) of Reidsville; and her sister, Eloise Early of Harrisonburg, VA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Michael Barker (wife, Morgan), Rachel Koupal (husband, Matthew), Ashley Miller (husband, Justin), Jared Johnson, Hannah Queenan (husband, Kyle), Alexa Stroup (husband, David), and Ainsley Underwood (husband, Collin); nine great-grandchildren, Denali and Kelty Barker, Cooper and Madelyn Koupal, Lillie Johnson, Isla and Liam Miller, Ezra Stroup, and baby Queenan to be born in December.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m. in Eure Christian Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Reverend Wade Bennett. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, or in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.
