Bible Study

GATESVILLE – There will be a free Bible Study on “The 7 Churches of Revelation” each Wednesday from 10-11:30 a.m. at Gatesville United Methodist Church.

Refreshments are provided.

Each week the group will explore a different letter to one of the Churches found in The Book of Revelation. Join in exploring the Bible in easy to follow lessons.

Participants will be using the Day of Discovery Bible Study Series for this study.

The church is located in downtown Gatesville at 306 Main Street.

Men’s Day

CORAPEAKE – New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 77th annual Men’s Day at 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 28.

The guest messenger will be Rev. David Boone of Memorial Baptist Church of Elizabeth City. The theme will be “The Pursuit of God: The Human Thirst For The Divine.”

 

Glory service

CORAPEAKE – Union Branch Baptist Church will host a “Glory” service at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28. The speaker will be Elder Tracy Thomas of Greater Emmanuel COGIC Hampton, VA.

Men’s Day

CORAPEAKE – Rev. David A. Boone Sr. will be the guest speaker for the 77th annual Men’s Day service at New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, Oct. 28.

Rev. Boone was born and reared in Gates County and educated in the public school system. He was baptized and became a member of New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. After graduating from Central High School in 1968, he attended Berea College in Kentucky and completed his degree in economics at Lehman in the Bronx, N.Y.

Rev. Boone attended Virginia University of Lynchburg and received a certificate of ministry. He was licensed and ordained in ministry at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.

 

Homecoming/Gospel sing

GATESVILLE – There will be a Gospel sing, featuring the Chowan University Singers, during Gatesville United Methodist Church’s Homecoming on Sunday, Nov. 11.

The Gospel sing is free to all and will start at 11 a.m. with a meal to follow in the fellowship hall. A love offering will be collected during the sing to help the Music Department of Chowan University.

Trustee Board Anniversary

SUNBURY – St. John A.M.E. Zion Church will celebrate the anniversary of its Trustee Board at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11.

The event will feature the Golden Harmoneers of Mapleton, Bernice Brinkley of Joppa Baptist Church of Hobbsville, and the St. John Male Chorus.

Christmas Story Bible Study

HOBBSVILLE – There will be a free Advent Bible Study on “The Birth of Jesus” from 5-6 p.m. each Sunday starting Oct. 28 and ending Nov. 18 at Zion United Methodist Church.

Each week the group will explore a different part of the “Birth Narrative” using DVD and written materials. Join in exploring the Bible in easy to follow lessons.
